December

Fall days are short, so on the farm we try to squeeze as much into them as we can. Our Grand Opening was a grand success and we enjoyed sharing the day with friends, new and old. The food, the music, and the crafting fun created moments we will remember. Thank you to all who came out that day. The spirit of the weekend spilled over into the holidays and we have not stopped giving thanks.

Our farm has been busy, as we have helped Max and Red find new families. We have welcomed a new barn kitten, named Dinky, a quarter horse, named Rambo, and a Palomino named Sam. One of our borders has also brought in a horse named Reckless, who is named after the Korean War hero she reassembles so much. Patches and Denny share the upper pasture with Buddy, Tater, and Carlos. All have taken on their winter coats.

Our family, too, has been settling in for the winter. With the wood stove burning, we welcome the cooler days. Important chores are finished early in the day, and we prioritize our time differently. When the sun sets, it calls us into the kitchen and reminds us that some things will just have to wait until tomorrow.

We pray for our hay eaters and thank the Lord for the warmth as autumn folds into winter.
